2009 Miss Buffalo Chip, Misti

Meet Miss Buffalo Chip 2009 - A hard-working mid western woman with more than winning beauty pageants on her mind. Misti was chosen from models, contestants and bikini beauties on August 8, 2009 as the new Miss Buffalo Chip. As a three year veteran of the Chip and former Miss Montana USA, she quickly became a fan favorite and the judges top contestant.

Not Just Miss Buffalo Chip ....

(taken from Miss Montana online. )Misti is an engineering student, US Army Veteran, professional snowboard instructor, and passionate volunteer. She is an over achiever, bad speller, and grammatical error maker. She is an entrepreneur, dreamer, adventurer, dancer, singer, and lyricist. She absolutely loves to cook, barbeque, and invent new recipes. She loves NFL Sunday, supreme pizza, and fresh powder. She is a daughter, granddaughter, great-grand daughter, sister, and a friend. Misti is filled with passion, persistence, and perseverance. It's not that she can't decide what to do it's that she want to do it all.

Now, from where she is today, it is difficult to explain the adventures she has taken on without sharing her life in details.

In 2003, when she was just 17 years old, she joined the US Army. She joined as a junior in high school and completed basic training before she was a senior in High School. She came home and graduated early in order to continue training. She was an Intel and Imagery analyst. Her experience could not be replaced or substituted; she was given the opportunity to save lives, stand and salute for our country, and of course persevere.

After her Army career, she was anxious to come home to Montana. She got a job at a local bank and quickly moved up into the loan department. This was not her passion. She resigned from her position and enrolled in college. She is now studying to be a biomedical engineering student. She hopes to design and engineer prosthetics. She also instructs snowboarding at Whitefish Mountain Resort.

Misti has a big heart and logical thinking. She knows she will make a difference whether it is one person, a community, or the world. Her ideas for the year are derived from a quote by Gandhi, "We must be the change we wish to see in the world."

Meghan McCain Visits Sturgis Buffalo Chip

Meghan is joining the Bikers this Year at the Legendary Buffalo Chip. Last year, the McCain campaign made a stop on the trail to visit Bikers and take the stage as the Buffalo Chip Honoree. This year, Meghan returns to experience all that Sturgis Buffalo Chip has to offer.

She has an exclusive tour of Motorcycles As Art, presented by Michael Lichter and then heads out for the Ride That Rocks! which kicks off in Deadwood. Meghan's interest in the biker culture can be seen in her most recent blog post on The Daily Beast. Her memories on the campaign trail are vivid - with the stop at the Buffalo Chip being a highlight.

<>
"It became my favorite memory from the general election, and my favorite campaign stop of all time. My dad got on stage and made a speech in front of 150,000 screaming bikers, which I still think is much cooler than 250,000 screaming Germans. Everyone felt invigorated again, pumped. It felt much more relevant and, yes, more American to stand and give a stump speech in front of a crowd of bikers. Later, when I went on my own small bus tour through Ohio, my favorite events were attended by—you guessed it—Bikers for McCain."

Megan on Bikers as published on The Daily Beast

She has really made herself into a spokesperson for the political party and has had continued success. We have enjoyed seeing her as a representative and look forward to her visit on Monday August 3. For more information about Meghan's experience as it happens: Follow @McCainBlogette

July Ended on a High Note at the Legendary Buffalo Chip

Get yourself ready for a Sturgis party like no other. The campers have rolled in and the riders are here – Its Party time! The weekend began with the Classic Rock All Stars, Mark Farner formerly of Grand Funk Railroad and South Dakota favorites Kory and the Fireflies. The opening day at the Buffalo Chip started out warming up to a balmy sixty five degrees – just long enough to head out of the tent and grab hold of some breakfast. Shortly after, the main goal was holding down everything in sight. The South Dakota weather, true to nature, did a one eighty and caught a few campers off guard. The awnings left up and camp chairs left out found themselves a new home – like the fence of the South 40 RV Park.

The weather didn’t hold off the riders. They were gearing up for a great day to ride the Black Hills and get reacquainted with old friends and make a few new ones. It’s fun to hear the stories and see the camps that have made their way into Buffalo Chip history. The groups of friends like The Barrachos and Camp RunAMuck make the party more like a family reunion than anything.

Vendors were making the final touches in order to be ready. The trolley had its first run today with Woody giving a tour of the campground for great friends and fans. The smells are aplenty from the great food served up by Buffalo Chip vendors like Santa Lucia, Dominoes, Sturgis Rider Café, Taco Bell, Chubby Churro’s and Stage West Café. Top Shelf Lounge had its grand opening – Guitar Hero Challenge qualified players for 2010 Rally Passes and of course, the hottest bartenders in Sturgis were serving up the beverages.

The media team was running around getting the insiders scoop and ran into Mark Farner the former lead singer of Grand Funk Railroad. He was kind enough to stop up to Radio Row and get on the air with the jocks and then we saw him again at the fan meet and greet – He was a genuine character that had no problem talking to his fans or stopping for a photo opp on his way back to the backstage compound. Just a note of useless info - we have him pictured in three different shirts. I guess, the life of a lead singer requires a dressing room larger than …. … (we’ll leave that open for reader comments).

Check our Flickr account for a few pictures from the day – Enjoy! And as Woody says: “Ride Safe, Take Risks and we’ll see your smiling faces” soon. Ride Safe everyone.
